Leaky

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
Large

I bought the jacket to replace my 15 year old Marmot precip in anticipation of a week long backpack trip in the Wind River mountains. I decided to check its weather protection in the shower and learned that it has significant leaks under both arms after only 3 minutes in the shower. Probably the pit zippers. The old Marmot kept me dryer.

Great Jacket and great customer service

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
XL

Bought this jacket about a month ago and have had the opportunity to wear it in the rain. Very light weight but sealed seems and great repelling water. Have bought several things from backcountry and they get it shipped out quickly. Mountain Hardwear makes great apparel and this jacket is no exception.

Portable water and wind protection

Very comfortable, high quality, light weight rain jacket. Have used it mostly as a wind breaker. Very pleased with the purchase.

THE MOST COMFORTABLE

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
Small

THE most comfortable rain jacket I've had. Basically a thin soft shell jacket with a waterproof membrane. Build quality is top-notch, and the face fabric is soft and stretchy unlike any rain jacket I've tried. So far no durability problem after a full year of use. I've gone through hikes where I had to go off trail through some serious spiky bushes which I thought was gonna destroy the jacket. Checking the jacket after the hike I was unable to find any significant wear. If maintaining and properly washing the jacket one in a while, the jacket also seems to be sufficiently waterproof for most drizzles, but does seem to be more prone to wetting out than other more hardshell-like rain jackets. Get this jacket if you plan on wearing it regularly as a wind-rain shell/soft shell on hikes rather than a dedicated severe weather hard shell.

Great lightweight rain shell

I just received this jacket. I've only worn it in light to medium rain and it seemed to work just fine. It's very comfortable, very light, very packable, and I like the pit ventilation. Planning to take it to hike Hadrian's Wall this spring. Relatively trim fit, not baggy.

Breathable Performance with Design Considerations

While the Mountain Hardwear Stretch Ozonic Jacket excels in breathability, especially during active outdoor pursuits, a few design considerations could enhance its functionality. The absence of sealed side pockets, featuring a mesh back, is a notable point. Additionally, the lack of a chest or internal pocket limits convenient storage options. Another aspect to be mindful of is that the side pockets sit relatively low on the jacket, potentially causing inconvenience when seated, especially with items like a phone. This is exacerbated by the waist strap cinching over the pockets, making access challenging.

4th one and still not waterproof

I've exchanged this jacket 4 times now, every single one exhibited signs of waterproofing issues when testing it after delivery. I gave up on this 4th one and decided to just go with it, how bad can it be? Very very bad. It's fine for very light rain/mist where having a rain jacket really doesn't even matter, but when it starts to really rain/pour this jacket fails. It was raining quite hard over this weekend and I had to go outside to check my downspouts. After about 15mins outside my entire right shoulder/back was wet. My neck was dry so it wasn't side rain coming in from the hood opening or anything, the jacket just plain let rain through the fabric. It's really unfortunate because the fit, color and stretch is really nice. Oh did I mention this 4th one came with a hole in the pocket? Yea, I can't put anything small in my right pocket....it's awesome.

Ridiculously big

Seems nice, but I bought a small and it feels like an extra large. I even bought a second one to make sure it wasn't a fluke. This jacket is way too big to be practical, let alone stylish, and they don't make an XS. Will be returning and looking to other brands that know how to size properly.
